(Saugus, MA) February 3, 2017 – Town Manager Scott C. Crabtree and Saugus Police Chief Domenic DiMella are pleased to announce the promotion of Officer Stephen McCarthy to Sergeant.
Sergeant McCarthy, who holds his Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Endicott College, has served on the department for almost 20 years. He was sworn into his new role on November 22 with members of the department, Town hall staff, family, and friends in attendance to show their support.
“I am honored to appoint Sergeant McCarthy to this new and challenging role. I wish him the best success,” said Town Manager Crabtree.
Over the years Sergeant McCarthy has received numerous commendations for his work in the patrol force, according to Chief DiMella, who is confident that McCarthy will continue that body of work as a sergeant. “He has been a good patrolman for many years. He’s taken a leadership role as a patrolman and I was happy to bring him in to promote him to sergeant and join my command staff,” said Chief DiMella. “I know he’ll do well because of his experience in patrol and he’s a respected officer in the department.”
