Saugus Police Thank Community for Outpouring of Support

SAUGUS — Chief Domenic DiMella and the Saugus Police Department would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Saugus community for their outpouring of support following the tragedies in Dallas, Texas and Baton Rouge, La.

On July 7, five police officers were killed and seven others were injured during an attack in Dallas — the deadliest incident for law enforcement in U.S. history since Sept. 11. On Sunday, July 17, three police officers were killed and three others were wounded during an attack in Baton Rouge.

Saugus Police have received many cards and letters of support from residents over the last week and a half. Others have stopped into the station to drop off pizza, danishes, cookies and cake to show their support.

“I would like to sincerely thank all our residents for their kindness and generosity since the events in Dallas and Baton Rouge,” Chief DiMella said. “The level of support they have shown has been overwhelming and it is comforting to know that we have such a strong and caring community behind us.”
