Town Manager Scott C. Crabtree and Saugus Police Chief Domenic DiMella are pleased to announce the promotion of officer Stephen Rappa to sergeant.
Rappa, who holds his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Southern New Hampshire University, has served the department for more than four years. He was sworn into his new role on Friday, Sept. 16, with members of the department, Town Hall staff, family and friends in attendance to show their support.
“I’m proud to appoint Sergeant Rappa,” said Crabtree. “I wish him the best success in his new role.”
Rappa scored at the top of his department on the civil service promotional examination for the rank of sergeant. He also received several letters of recognition from the department, including a performance letter of recognition from DiMella, who described him as an exemplary officer who worked hard for the opportunity.
“He will be a great addition to my command staff,” said DiMella. “He has shown through the years that he’s a hardworking officer, and he’s just done a great job up until this point.”
