Saugus Police Searching for Carjacking Suspect

SAUGUS — Chief Domenic J. DiMella reports that the Saugus Police Department is actively searching for a man who carjacked a taxi this evening after fleeing from a store in town.

At approximately 6:45 p.m., Saugus Police received a 911 call from someone at DICK’S Sporting Goods, 1201 Broadway, who reported that a male had fled the store, possibly carrying merchandise.

The male then approached a gray 2008 Ford Fusion Garcia’s Taxi, broke the driver’s side window and then removed the driver before getting in the vehicle and driving off in the direction of Essex Street. The taxi has a Massachusetts license plate, 412c. No injuries were reported.

The suspect is described as a white man in his 30s. He was last seeing wearing a black hat and black jacket.

Anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident, or who encounters the taxi, is asked to immediately call their local police department or Saugus Police at 781-941-1199.
