Members of the Saugus Police Department and Armstrong Ambulance hosted a Safety Day on Oct. 13th at the Veterans Memorial School. Children were able to meet some of the police officers and ambulance personnel, and get a firsthand look at how a police cruiser and ambulance work. The Police Department also provided car seat safety checks and bicycle helmets to children who needed them. The helmets that were provided were purchased with funds from a grant awarded by the Executive Office of Public Safety, Security of Grants and Research to the Police Department The police rubber ducks were given to children that had their car safety seats inspected. The ducks were donated to the Police Department by the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.
